one room challenge: week six

It is here! The end is here! Even though I was a stress ball for most of the project, it was completely worth it in the end (as most things are). My bedroom got a face lift. It is more "me"... I love spending time in my new space!

For flashbacks of the transformation, see week 2, week 3, week 4, and week 5. Make sure you click over to Linda's blog to check out all of the One Room Challenge talent! SO MUCH GOODNESS!

I added new furniture (and spruced up existing furniture), new curtains, new bedding, new art (the paint-by-numbers started the madness), almost all new accessories, new lamps... and I think that is it. Lots of new! Are you ready for the big reveal?

Vase available here. The teacup, German flapper dolls, and old Bible are family treasures. The tray came from Cheshire Cat.

The lamp is from Homegoods. The nightstand is a flea market find from yeeears ago. I painted the handles gold for glitz. The candle is available in my booth at Cheshire Cat (and it smells so. dang. good.)

This nightstand - lab chest? - was found along the side of the road in the tiny town of Pactolus, NC. I gave it a new coat of paint and stripped handles to reveal their original shine. The box was a gift from Belarus. The brass birds perched on top of my ancient copy of Black Beauty came from Cheshire Cat.

I just love my new pattern-blocked curtains!

Ta-da! I decided to go for a mirror vs. tv. Don't you love it? My decision came down to how I actually live instead of how I would like to think I live. The chair came from a great grandmother. The painted plants were done by moi in middle school. I miss art classes! The pillow is from leftover bed skirt fabric.

Y'all. A quick church-moment. If you follow me on Instagram (and you should), you will remember that last week I asked everyone to pray for me in The Most Epic Pillow Hunt of 2015. I found a pillow over a month ago at Homegoods. Just one. I didn't know I would need two. You know how likely it is to find a duplicate pillow six weeks after the fact? Your chances are extremely slim. So I got everyone to rally. Insta-friends searched far and wide, I went to several local stores. No luck. I purchased SIX sets of alternate pillows. I ultimately settled on two blue ones from Target. But two didn't seem like enough. I needed a little something extra. God actually is in the details (thank you, Mr. Van Der Rohe) and God actually does care about your pillows, trivial as they may be. On Saturday, I remembered this little lumpy pillow that I made a year ago. It wasn't good enough to sell, so it had been hanging out in the back of my car. Yes, for a year. I ran out to get it and....

Thaaaaaank Youuuu, Lorrrrrrrrrrrrrd! Perfect, right? I couldn't have planned it any better myself! That G is pretty fleek. (is that the correct use of that new word? just trying it out...). Amen and amen.
