a restful birthday weekend, and then...

Reality. Ugh. Who needs it.

Let's rewind three days. July 22, 2016. It was a gorgeous day, a hot day, but a lovely summer day. It was my birthday eve and J and I were heading to the mountains. Typically, the mountains are cooler... but when it's this kind of hot, hot is hot is hot.

On the way up, we stopped at South Creek Winery. They've got beautiful horses, a winding gravel drive, Bordeaux style wines. Yes, please. If it had been a little cooler, we might have enjoyed the patio. But what was most interesting was the hostess' story. She said they were at a crossroads in life and decided to jump out of their corporate jobs and give the vineyard a go. Maybe it was her wine, but her story really resonated with me.

And then on the way home, we stopped at Belle Nicho Winery. There, the owner talked about how they had lived on their property for 20 years. They were enjoying life. They happened to pop over to South Creek where the original owner gave them a nudge. He said, "You know, you can do this, too!" And in they jumped.

Now... let's click back to today. I love wine. I love a good story. I love motivational kumbaya moments. I'm not opening a vineyard. But I am striking out on a journey. I'm listening to the rhythms and where they are sending me. Hooray!

Luckily, it's almost happy hour...
