It's almost here! The cooler mornings are whispering what's to come...
Fall. It's when I trade Jimmy Buffett for Ed Sheeran, rainbows for boots, blonde highlights for auburn lowlights, sweet cream creamer for pumpkin spice creamer, herbal citrus candles for woodsy/smokey/spicy blends, a cardigan for a fleece... and the list goes on and on.
I. Love. Fall.
And oh yes, let's not forget the transition to root vegetables. Tonight I made this DANK salad and I'm eating it every. single. day. All y'all red-meat-haters can hush.
But what I REALLY want to talk about is how fall brings a freshness... right? The summer is for being lazy, relaxing, enjoying life, sweating out toxins, etc. And then fall rolls in and the mornings are cooler, there's a pep in your step (because you aren't dying in the humidity), and suddenly anything seems possible.
Because it is.
Take, for instance, my living sitch. If you've followed for a while, you may know that in February my life changed, by April my house was on the market - and sold super fast, and I found myself in an apartment. I thought the change of scenery would be good for me. It has been interesting, don't know about good. OK I hate it. But that is okay because sometimes we hate the season we are in... right? So I decided nothing is a life sentence, I thought about what would make a happier home for Violet and me, and I made a vision board. Outdoor space, charm, hardwood floors, walkable to bars + restaurants, close to downtown, at least two bedrooms but still tiny... I cut out pictures that represented these things and I stuck the art to the fridge. Like grade school. "Emily, A+"
But I didn't leave it there. I still did work. I still searched zillow and craigslist, still scheduled tours for homes that might fit the bill... and then, about a week into it, up popped this little house. Not only does it have everything I wanted, but it's around the corner from the dog park, it has a THIRD bedroom which will make the most perfect yoga room, the washer and dryer convey, there is a porch AND a deck AND a fire pit, and in addition to all of the restaurants and bars close by, a pizza place just opened on Sunday. As if everything else wasn't enough, I can have non-franchise-pizza.
Not buying what I'm selling? Okay. The last week of August, I looked at sales for the month. I saw what the shop and done, and I was pleased (thanks to ALL of you!). But I said to myself out loud, "okay, that's all well and good, but let's do $x,xxx in sales by the end of the week." Two days later, I had doubled the amount I set out to do.
What's the point? The POINT is... it's FALL! It's the PERFECT time to take stock of what's happening in your world and decide what should stay, what could be better, and what should go. Yes, you can do it! Yes, you are doing it! What is the thing you need? A job? A new place to live? Extra money? Name it, write it down, stick it where you will see it every day, and go bananas! Make it happen!
Disclaimer: I haven't tried this with a man... I cannot say for certain that the results will be the same if I cut out 50 pictures of tall/dark/handsome dudes and stick them to my fridge. But with OTHER things, it for sure works! If you've tried it with your love life and have had remarkable results, by all means... chime in in the comments!
Set your sights high, friends! And HAPPY FALL!!!!
